In the botanical sense, wild rice belongs to the water grasses 'Zizania aquatica'. It is cultivated along the shores of lakes and rivers and is harvested by boat. The harvested grains have a high water content and have a green-brown colour that turns brown-black through the drying process.

Wild rice is cultivated along lake shores and harvested by boat. In order to obtain the right consistency, the wild rice is dried at 110-120°C before it is cleaned, sorted and packed.
